Croatia second best in World Cup, Modrić winner of Golden Ball!

July 15thsince this Sunday holds a special meaning to anyone living in Croatia. It was the date when history wrote itself, and Croatia was playing in the World Cup finale with France. It was an intense match, and we can say for sure – there are no players in the world as Croatian players. The team played with their hearts and through all the championship showed us what real sport and hard work is.  The historic match between Croatia and France ended in 4:2 in favor of France but experts agree- Croatia showed something new, fresh and exciting to watch in football and definitely dominated the whole game and ball possession a nearly won the title, but don’t worry, the guys from team are Croatian heroes, from the players to coach Zlatko Dalić. Croatia has once more showed, just as in case of Goran Ivanišević, Janica and Ivica Kostelić, Mate Parlov, Dražen Petrović and many more, this is a small country for big dreams and prominent people, especially in sports. Although the conditions in which many Croatian athletes work are not ideal, it’s the Croatian spirit that keeps our heads proud and high and motivated.

And to prove that, just look at  Croatia’s captain Luka Modrić who has been awarded the 2018 FIFA World Cup Golden Ball award for the best player of the tournament.

Modric led his team to the final for the first time, regularly running matches from the heart of midfield. The 32-year-old was named as the winner ahead of Belgium skipper Eden Hazard and France forward Antoine Griezmann. Modric is the first Croatian player to ever win the award and we salute and congratulate him on this small step for our captain and a big step for our nation.
