Borna Ćorić, Croatian professional tennis player and acknowledged as one of the most talented young players, burst onto the scene early in his young career, defeating some of the biggest names like Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray. At the age of 20, he claimed his maiden ATP World Tour title last year in Marrakech.
This Year Borna did not make it to the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournament finals at Indian Wells. Ćorić made it a complex and challenging game, but Federer refused to go down without a fight, scored 5-7, 6-4 and 6-4 in the semi-finals and dumped him out of the competition.
Roger Federer secured his position at the top, but Borna Ćorić played one of the best matches in his career and was close to overcoming the five-time conqueror of this tournament.
It was their second encounter and the second time that The Swiss tennis player turned the result to his advantage. They played for the first time in Dubai in 2015. But this time Borna handled the game significantly better!
Although he lost the match, he reached his first semifinals ATP World Tour Masters 1000.
Just at the age of 21 years, he is already on 36th place at the ATP rankings. In 2017, Borna Ćorić won his first ATP tournament, defeating German tennis player Philipp Kohlschreiber.
Borna recently announced a new coach and a new manager – former Croatian star Ivan Ljubičić, and Italy’s Riccardo Piatti. Three years ago Ljubičić founded an agency called “Sporting Advantage Monaco”. His vision was to build a team of people who will work with top players and talents, especially from these areas. The first big acquisition was Tomàš Berdych and was followed with special interest to get Ćorić on the team. It is safe to say that we can already see excellent results!
Congratulations Borna! Keep up the good work!
