There are just over 1.200 official islands in Croatia, each different from the other, and some are extra special in many ways, one of which is Kor\u010dula island.<\/a> Halfway between Split and Dubrovnik, this picture-perfect island is the 6th in size in Croatia. It is often described as “little Dubrovnik “and the crown jewel of the Adriatic and the Emerald Isle. Kor\u010dula<\/a> is a true example of the natural beauty of Dalmatia.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The island of history<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The island has been under the rule of so many different powers, making its unique architectural and urban design recognized until this day.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Illyrians, Greeks, Venetians, the Austrians, and even Brits, amongst a flurry of other civilizations, all left their mark on the island. For example, the Greeks bought grapes and their knowledge for producing delicious wines.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On Kor\u010dula island, you can find the birth house of Marco Polo, the legendary explorer. The Polo \u2013 Depolo family that lived here in the 13th century left their mark on the island and a traditional stone house in which Marco Polo was born stands today.<\/span><\/p>\n

And the Old Town of Kor\u010dula is the island’s crown, so it can’t be missed when visiting!
