Marinated sardines are one of the secrets of the Dalmatian coast. They can sit in the refrigerator for weeks if prepared correctly, and you can use them for all kinds of dishes, including fish, such as cold salads, sandwiches, etc. This is an ideal snack for those who are always on the run and have no time to prepare and cook food daily but want to eat healthily and feel full. Prepare sardines like in the recipe below, and you’re good for at least a week!
Ingredients:
1 kg sardines,200 ml olive oil,½ red onion,3 cloves garlic, 1 teaspoon minced red pepper,100 ml wine vinegar,2 laurel leaves,1 teaspoon rosemary,½ teaspoon grained black pepper,½ bunch of parsley,½ lemon, flour, salt, water
Preparation:
Clean the sardines, rinse, drain and salt. Coat into flour and fry in heated olive oil, then remove. Add chopped onion to the frying oil, when softened add garlic, a teaspoon of minced red pepper, vinegar, laurel, grained black pepper, and rosemary. Remove the marinade from the fire and pour it over the sardines and lemon slices. Cover the finished marinade and place it in the refrigerator. Allow cooling to marry flavors. Put in the refrigerator at the end so the ingredients can permeate.
Practical tip:
The marinade prepared in this fashion gives the sardines a special aroma. A sardine is considered to be the queen of fish. It is a cold-water fish that contains rich amounts of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids and is thus a very healthy ingredient.
