Croatian island Lopud with its stunning beauty and uncomparable Mediterranean charm has become the home of a brand new international film festival
Tilda Grossel Bogdanović, Co-founder and organizer of the festival, said Lopud is the festival’s exciting content to connect the festival’s guests with the locals and give the island additional international recognition. “Whether it was brave or crazy, I’m not sure. Time will show. I am happy with the reactions of many people from the general public to the locals who helped us in every way, “said Grossel Bogdanović.
The first INTERNATIONAL PONTA LOPUD FESTIVAL was ceremonially opened on Friday, July 2, on beautiful Lopud island
Co-founder of the Ponta Lopud Festival and director of the Sarajevo Film Festival, Mirsad Purivatra, at the opening, said, “In four to five years, the Ponta Lopud Festival will become one of the most important places for film-people. “We don’t want to become a new Cannes or Sarajevo. We want the Lopud festival to be where people socialize, enjoy, exchange ideas, develop a network, and create new projects. The environment that this beautiful island offers can only be the inspiration.”
PAWLIKOWSKI: I AM GLAD TO BE A PART OF THIS FESTIVAL
A special guest of the festival, Pawel Pawlikowski, whose film “Cold War” was shown at the grand opening in the Franciscan monastery, Lopud 1483, praised the idea of realizing the project of a new festival.” There are only a few people like Mirsad Purivatra who loves film and knows how to gather film lovers. When he invited me to the Ponta Lopud festival, I had no doubts, and I was thrilled to come. I’m glad to be a part of it. ”
Pawlikowski said to many reporters that the covid crisis had definitely changed his perspective. “I’m not sure if I’m ready to make a new film in this new situation, but we have to move on.” He expressed satisfaction that young and talented directors and actors from the region participated in the master class and emphasized that he gets new energy from the participants. “It’s a mutual benefit for both the master class participants and me.”
On the opening night of the Ponta Lopud Festival, visitors enjoyed stunning fireworks and the indigenous gourmet offer of Lopud restaurants.
A masterclass with a director
The Punta Lopud Festival masterclass is intended for directors and actors; Pawlikowski was joined by Michel Franco, an award-winning Mexican director, and Bosnian Oscar-winner Danis Tanovic. Masterclass participants, actors, and directors from Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Northern Macedonia, and Kosovo spoke with Pawlikowski about how he prepared and realized the film “My summer of love”, which was shot in 2004.
In front of the RMH Lafodia Sea Resort, the screening’ under the open sky’ attracted many guests who came to see the award-winning film by the director who is the guest of honor at the first edition of Ponta Lopud film festival.
In the fortress of the Franciscan monastery LOPUD 1483, festival guests and journalists organized a “Recharge & Reset with Asja Petersen” exercise of breathing and movements for the start of inspiring festival events.
The Ponta Lopud festival attracted many guests who came to the island of Lopud to socialize with directors and actors. A trip to Šipan was also organized. Special attention was drawn to the famous Konavle wines of the Crvik family and lovely comments by Mira Šemić. She is presented by the media as a ‘wine google’ and one of the most respected wine connoisseurs, a distinguished sommelier, and the first wine academic in the Balkans.
