Advent Program 2018. in Zagreb was announced!

On the 9th of November, Zagreb’s Advent program for 2018 was presented at the press conference at Hotel Esplanade in the city center. The Advent’s program starts on December 1st and it will last until January 6th. As in previous years, a great interest of tourists is expected!

For three years in a row, the best advent in Europe is planning to expand its program. This year there will be more locations, concerts, and events. Particular emphasis is on children’s content.

“Children will be a symbol of this year’s Advent, we will return to the story, return to the fairytale, and most of our Zagreb advent locations will be inspired by the brilliant work of the most famous Croatian writer and great author of children’s literature, Ivana Brlić Mažuranić,” said director of the Zagreb Tourist Board Martina Binenfeld.

New locations are Tkalčićeva and the passage of Sisters Baković, as well as the largest city park Maksimir. Most visitors are expected at the skating rink on King Tomislav and Zrinjevac Square. There are also concerts in the cathedral and churches, as well as programs in theaters and museums. This year’s special emphasis is also on ecology!

“We have appealed to our many partners on projects to avoid plastic packaging this year, so they are planning to use paper cups, avoid plastic straps and use recycled materials to make cleaner and smaller pollutants,” Binenfeld said. Advent will begin on December 1st by burning the first advent candle and Christmas lighting at Ban Jelačić Square. Zagreb will be the fairy – expects Minister of tourism Gari Cappelli.

“In Zagreb for over a month there will be over 120,000 guests. This year’s Advent with its excellent program, a good marketing approach that the director has devised with the amazing team, is already praiseworthy and I do not doubt that it will have even greater attendance, “Cappelli said.

It is important to note that this year’s Advent as an extension of the Zagreb Christmas Market includes Advent in Marija Bistrica and Ozalj.
