We especially love this traditional dish because we rarely prepare it and it reminds us of the taste of grandma’s kitchen. Turkey with flatbread is usually made for holidays and special occasions. Discover the secret of home-made turkey with flatbread!


2.5-3 kg turkey bird,500 g flatbread,oil,salt


Thoroughly rinse, drain, dry and salt turkey on the skin and the insides, leave in a cool place for 4-5 hours. Place the bird on a larded baking pan, pour over a mixture of oil and water and roast in a heated oven on medium heat. During 2,5 – 3 hours of roasting, marinade the turkey with the released juice and roll it over as to turn crispy gold from all sides. Once the liquid from the baking pan evaporates, add some water to prevent burning. Take out the roasted turkey from the oven, cool and cut into slices. Break flatbread into pieces the size of 5×5 cm, place the pieces in a larger bowl and pour in boiling water (singe). Close the lid, wait for 5 minutes, and rinse. Pour over flatbread pieces oven juice, salt, and stir on the heat. Serve the turkey slices with flatbread on the side.

Practical tip:

Baking flatbread:
500 g hard flour
1,5 dcl lukewarm milk
1 egg
1-1,5 dcl lukewarm water
12 g salt

Place the dough on a cloth-covered table and cover with a bowl. After 20 minutes, cut the dough into equal parts. Roll out the dough in round leaves. Using a fork, make tiny air holes in the dough. Bake in a preheated oven on 200 degrees until golden.
