Varaždin – baroque capital of Croatia

Varaždin County is a popular tourist destination.
The city of Varaždin is certainly the most deserving, but there is also the Varaždinske Toplice – a famous rehabilitation center and the popular excursion site Varaždin Breg.
Excellent food, good wines, pumpkin oil, and a hilly area of hardworking people.
The Varaždin area is a must-see in continental Croatia.
Varaždin is, according to Croatians, the most pleasant city for living. Since 1993, Varaždin has been the head of Varaždin County.
But – more important – Varaždin used to be the capital of Croatia.
Varaždin was the capital of Croatia from 1767 to 1776. At that time, beautiful baroque palaces and public buildings were built, giving it the characteristics of a baroque city.
It’s located on the banks of the Drava River and is surrounded by Zagorje, Podravina, Štajerska, and Međimurje.
