There is no better way to start your journey to Istria than by visiting the capital: Pula.
There you’ll have a chance to see it’s the biggest attraction (and maybe one of the biggest Croatia’s attractions at all), the Pula Amphitheatre, often referred to as the Arena whose construction began 27BC. Today the amphitheater serves as a location for numerous festivals and concerts of some of the biggest artists of our time (Luciano Pavarotti, Andrea Bocelli, Jose Carreras, Jamiroquai, Norah Jones, Elton John, Alanis Morisette, Sting, Tom Jones, etc.)

And while in Pula, a must-see Croatian attraction is the little medieval town of Motovun, settled on a hill. The town overlooks the Mirna river, and it’s valley rich in a rare, luxurious specialty – truffles.
The fungus found in the ground of the valley holds worldwide fame and recognition from the world’s top chefs, and it’s no secret that they also serve as an aphrodisiac.
