A Year of Historic Anniversaries

This year’s festival is extra special!

1100 years of the Croatian Kingdom – a tribute to the nation’s rich heritage
100 years of Hotel Esplanade– celebrating a century of elegance and hospitality

This year’s festival is particularly special as it marks two significant anniversaries: the 1100th anniversary of the Croatian Kingdom and the centenary of the prestigious Hotel Esplanade. The festival’s grand opening, featuring a spectacular 3D mapping show, will take place in front of Hotel Esplanade, further underscoring the historical and cultural significance of this symbol of elegance and hospitality.

Global Brilliance & Environmental Awareness

For the first time, the festival features its largest-ever international lineup, showcasing 13 installations from 8 countries:
Czech Republic, France, Italy, Canada, Netherlands, Germany, Slovakia, and the United Kingdom.

In the spirit of sustainability, Marulić Square will go dark for 10 minutes on March 22 at 8:30 PM as part of the worldwide Earth Hour movement, in collaboration with WWF Adria.

The Symbol of 2025 – The Hellebore

This year’s festival is represented by the hellebore—a delicate yet resilient flower that blooms in winter and early spring. It symbolizes the festival’s essence: light, renewal, and transformation.

The Festival of Lights Zagreb 2025 runs from March 19 to 23. All installations are open from 6 PM to 11 PM, and entry to all programs is free!
More information and a location map are available at Visitor Centers and on the official festival website: www.festivalsvjetlazagreb.hr
