Condé Nast Traveler, a reputable tourist magazine, declared Hvar the fourth best island in Europe this year. Only 2,000 votes were missing until last year’s first place.
It’s is already the 33rd such selection, and more than 715 thousand voters voted for the Reader’s Choice Award.
Along with Hvar, the three best islands include the Greek islands of Folegandros, Zakynthos, and Crete. Greek islands of Mykonos and Skiathos, the island of Jersey in the United Kingdom, the Italian island of Ischia, the Spanish island of Mallorca, and the Turkish island of Bozcaada look back.

Condé Nast Traveler points out that Hvar is an excellent destination to visit all year round; due to warm summers, mild winters, and it’s the sunniest island in Croatia, with more than 2800 hours of sunshine a year. Reasons to visit Hvar are certainly the rich historical and cultural heritage of the city, Fortica Fortress, Arsenal, and Hvar Theater.
Hvar lavender is also a lure for visitors and excellent wines and famous winemakers, and of course, gastronomy.
The award of 50,000 arrivals and 280,000 overnight stays is a kind of crown, for the COVID 19 pandemic.
