Starting on the first weekend of December, the Lungomare promenade below the Grand Park Hotel will allow visitors to taste traditional Istrian products and purchase them as unique gifts for the holiday season.
Eight Christmas market huts will offer Prodan truffles, Pisinium prosciutto, Reginex baked goods and cakes, Agrolaguna wines, Kumparička cheeses, Japanese delicacies prepared by Tekka by Lone restaurant, and cocktails and mulled wine by Katarina’s Patisserie. There will also be ACI promotional products, with the company joining Konzum as a sponsor of this year’s innovative Rovinj Advent concept. In addition to the Christmas market, restaurants Primi Terreni and Katarina’s will also offer a special Advent menu. There is also a program for children and performances by the vocal ensemble Klapa Valdibora, Roxanne dance group, Rovinj Majorettes, Rovinj Brass Band, and DJs. Many of the shops will offer an exciting range of clothes and shoes, niche perfumes, cosmetics, jewelry, accessories, and renowned international and domestic iconic brands at specially discounted prices. The Lungomare Plaza program will take place every Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm and during the holidays, on 26 December and 6 January.
Christmas decorations by Saša Šekoranja
With decorations by the renowned academy artist, florist, and interior designer Saša Šekoranja and a tempting Advent program at Lungomare Plaza, Maistra Collection Hotels are readily awaiting their December guests.
Leading Maistra hotels in Rovinj open during the Christmas season – Grand Park Hotel Rovinj, Lone and Adriatic – have been decorated, like every year, with stunning installations made by Saša Šekoranja. Unlike before, this time, the installations have been inspired by the sea and local heritage motifs.
It is also worth mentioning that the whole Advent offer and program are part of the new, unique concept behind this year’s edition of Rovinj Advent – Christmas by the Sea, which relies on the tradition of Rovinj in terms of decorations, gourmet offer, and program. For the first time ever, the program is taking place in three key locations: the Lungomare Plaza as the modern twist on Advent, the traditional Advent in front of the Church of St Euphemia with a hand-crafted life-size nativity scene, and a third, local Advent on the main town square, where visitors will be able to taste local specialties accompanied by live band performances and an ice-skating rink, starting from 9 December.
Decorated traditional Rovinj batana boats
The star of the show of this year’s atmosphere and decorations is the traditional Rovinj batana boat, a symbol of the local community, which can be found in several locations all over town and in the sea next to the Rovinj waterfront, decorated with oversized Christmas star lights. A truly special thing to see this year.
The new concept behind the December events results from the cooperation and synergy between the City, Maistra, the Tourist Board, the Craftsmen Association, Eco-museum Batana, and other associations, institutions, and hospitality establishments participating in the program organization. The decoration concept has been developed in cooperation with Saša Šekoranja.
