Building the Skywalk Biokovo viewpoint was part of the project “New Adrion – Promoting the sustainable use of the natural heritage of Biokovo Nature Park,” financed by the European Regional Development Fund, as part of the Operational program Competitiveness and Cohesion 2014 – 2020.

The most impressive and complex part of this EU project is the construction of the Skywalk Biokovo, a breathtaking viewpoint in the shape of a horseshoe outside the cliff with a glass surface for walking.

At the viewpoint, there is also a geological column providing a 3D overview of the cross-section of the rock that forms Mt. Biokovo, from its formation until today, with a geological time chart and description of the types of rock and their ages. The viewpoint area is fully equipped with parking and restroom facilities.

The Skywalk is reached from the Biokovo road starting at the Biokovo Nature Park entrance, about 6 km east of Makarska. It leads to the highest peak, Sv. Jure (St. Georg) at an elevation of 1762 meters, making it Croatia’s highest paved road.
