One of the most beautiful Christmas stories takes place in Zagreb <3
After CNN included Advent Zagreb on the list of the best Christmas markets in 2022, the British Mirror also wrote about Advent Zagreb. The news was also reported by the other most popular British media: Daily Mail, Telegraph, Independent, and others. According to the research, Zagreb took second place as the city with the best value for money to visit this December.
This year, Advent in Zagreb brings back those precious things and moments that will always make us laugh and cheer up, soften and enchant us. Christmas decorations, lovely wooden houses, charming music, special shows, excellent catering, and smiling, rosy faces are coming to Zagreb again.
The Christmas Spirit
Advent in Zagreb is the perfect depiction of the Christmas spirit, created with the help of emotions in our hearts. You can feel it in a leisurely walk with loved ones, feeling warmth despite the cold air, the joy of giving gifts, and faith in a better tomorrow. And that’s why this year’s Advent program in Zagreb was created to bring that Christmas spirit to the city’s streets with a million hearts through sound, sight, taste, and smell so that each of them could once again experience the feeling of pure joy. And what will we be able to see, taste and experience? And when?
After the grand opening on the 26th of November with the ceremony of lighting of the candles on Zagreb’s central square fountain – Manduševac, and on one of Zagreb’s most beautiful parks – Zrinjevac, and as a big surprise for the people in Zagreb, the skating arena on King Tomislav square is open again.
After the grand opening, the city of Zagreb will provide more than 100 concerts, many children’s programs, and exhibitions in more than 20 locations arranged in the spirit of Christmas. It will indeed be a Christmas like no other!
A special part of the Christmas Advent program is the concerts that will happen throughout the city. Evenings with Brahms will open the musical aspect of Advent on the 1st of December with enchanting compositions. Advent concerts of the Zagreb Chamber Orchestra will start happening on the 2nd of December. They will be followed by the Festival of Advent and Christmas songs in Zagreb on the 2nd and Advent Classic Fest with 3 concerts from the 4th of December.
Ivan Filipović Chamber Choir will perform on the 9th. The program will finish with Advent concerts of Zagreb soloists and will perform 2 concerts from the 11th of December.
As far as other cultural events go, there will be enough for a person of every taste.

Ethnographic Museum is offering the program under the name “Kinch is not kitsch “, Dagmar Meneghello Collection, Croatian School Museum, Museum of the City of Zagreb, Chocolate Museum, The Museum of Broken Relationships, Advent in the “Small Scene Theatre “, as well as the “Advent in Vidra Theatre “will be a special part of it for anyone hungry for cultural events. The most famous parts of Christmas time in Zagreb are the shows in the Croatian National Theatre – “The Nutcracker “and “The Bat, “both of which will premiere on Advent.

And for the youngestThere will be plenty to see also for the youngest visitors. Cinema screenings, children’s plays, workshops, and choirs will be a part of until the 1st of January. A new and special treat is the program in Zagreb ZOO, where you’ll be able to see Thematic tours, an educational center, Christmas decoration workshops, and Santa’s hut.
