The WRC Croatia Rally 2022, the biggest sporting event and one of the most-watched sporting shows in the world, will be held from 21 to 24 April 2022.
50th Anniversary of The World Rally Championship
WRC (World Rally Championship) is the most popular motorsport competition besides F1, celebrating its 50th anniversary. It is regularly broadcast by over 250 TV stations and about 836 million people worldwide.
After many years, Croatia had the opportunity to organize an event of the World Championship for the first time in 2021, which was labeled WRC Croatia Rally and took place in Zagreb and the surrounding area in April of the same year.
The epicenter of the motorsport world this weekend is Zagreb!
The WRC Croatia Rally will be taking place from 21 to 24 April at 20 attractive special stages through five Croatian counties – Zagreb County, Karlovac County, Krapina-Zagorje County, Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, and Varaždin County; while the ceremonial start, the finish line and the service park will be located in Zagreb.
A record number of spectators is expected at one of the largest sporting events in the country ever. According to the predictions of the Organizer, the event will be followed by more than 350,000 people in special fan areas and along the tracks, arriving from Europe and many countries worldwide. The visitors will also be able to lay eyes on the ground-breaking new generation of hybrid Rally1 vehicles, which premiered in Monte Carlo at the beginning of the season. Thanks to the excellent organization of the sports and collateral contents of the race, including environmental protection, Croatia has been mentioned many times as refreshing and a real surprise in the WRC calendar. Thus, following the excellent assessment for the overall impression, the organizer was allowed to sign a three-year contract to organize this octane show. Along with numerous partners, local government units, tourist boards, and other institutions, the importance and success of this event have been recognized also by the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the City of Zagreb, which decided to provide co-funds for the organization of the competition in 2022 and the subsequent years.
As the WRC Croatia Rally organizers announced, visitors can expect rich content along the tracks and in the Fan zones. The largest Fan zone, i.e. the Zagreb Fair Service Park Fan zone, was opened Tuesday, 19 April, and will be open up until 24 April, when the closing party is to be expected in the evening. There, visitors will see the village built by the teams of the best rally drivers, the cars, and the top competitors’ service areas and watch their final preparations and maintenance of cars during the competition.
All about the program at the WRC Croatia Rally
This week Zagreb Fair is turning into the WRC Croatia Rally 2022 Service Park Fan Zone, becoming the epicenter of the motorsport world. Motorsport fans will be able to buy Croatia Rally’s, top teams’ and WRC’s merch, indulge in the catering offer and performances of DJs and famous music artists, and try their skills on game consoles and simulators. The Croatia Rally 2022 drivers will be signing autographs. The “Meet the Crews” event, during which the drivers will make statements for the gathered audience, will be from Thursday till Saturday, 23 April.
The rally organizers are aware of their great impact not only on economic activity and consumption but also on the environment, so this year they are going to find ways to maximize their efficiency while reducing environmental impact by positively impacting the economy, in collaboration with the scientists from the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences and the Hrvoje Požar Energy Institute.
