Balance yourself at Maslina Resort on Hvar island

It’s always something fascinating when presenting a new hotel. But when I get the tingling sensation all over my body, that’s the excitement of the true story. I read all bio interviews of the people who created the resort and today run it impeccably before writing this, and now I feel like I know these people 🙂

Here is the story of Maslina. Maslina in Croatian means olive.

Dalmatia is famous for its olive trees, recently for its amazing rewarded olive oils of exquisite taste. Is then any better name for the resort on the island of Hvar? Maslina shows its value with its leaves, its fragrance, its shade, and elegance. Not to mention that ‘maslina’ has its symbolic meaning of peace, tranquility, abundance, eternity, learning, and health. Since ancient Greece, it has symbolized victory.

Maslina resort initiator Maud Truchi said; “When I saw the location, I told my father that he needed to keep it because it was too amazing to give up – not to mention the history and local lifestyle of the area. Albert Einstein said, “Everyone knew it was impossible until a fool who didn’t know came along and did it.” I might have been a fool at the time.. haha!”

It was crucial to create a signature with unique and original features

Maud continues with another quote of Charles Baudelaire; “Nothing can be done except little by little. At Maslina, we have endeavored to create heaven that fuses French touches, Asian inspirations, and local culture. We aspired to develop an environment based on fairness, respect, and mindful luxury with a skilled, creative, and international team. Thus, when conceiving Maslina Resort, it was crucial to create a signature with unique and original features. A new concept of luxury that high-end guests are looking for today: the authenticity of a place. Jane Austen once wrote: “It isn’t what we say or think that defines us, but what we do”, pointed out Maud Truchi.

The unique design of Maslina resort combines stylish and modern, luxurious and informal, relaxed and severe, with a personalized touch. A synergy of interior and exterior is achieved with natural materials, like terra-cotta, linen, wood, the stone of BraÄŤ island, and brushed brass, even raw materials with the patina of time. Maslina’s peaceful palette of colors ranges from greys and greens to coal, brown, beige, and pink.

Love for Croatian people peculiarities and differences

Maud was blown away by the Croatian people. “Once you get to know them, and if you give them a chance, take the time, they are amazing and humble. I have been swept off my feet by Croatians, and that made a move so much easier. I have found in Croatians what we have lost in France. I grew up in Asia, and it’s similar to the hospitality we have in Asia. However, you don’t really know what they’re thinking. Here, that is not the case, and I love that. While Croatians can be a bit cold, when they open their doors, and they open them fast, they are just incredible. They’ll take you to their stone houses in the middle of nowhere to cook you a meal that took them seven hours. And they’ll give you rakija. And they’re just happy because you’re there.

This is why I love Croatia. It’s not just because of the beauty. It’s the people, and it’s a lost hospitality today in the world.”

Maslina Resort was founded on balance, honesty, friendliness, truth, friendship, authenticity, and trust

I was writing this story in my head for days, but I finally wrote it with great pleasure on Sunday evening.  Like Maud Truchi for my conclusion, I’ll quote Benjamin Franklin; “Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing.”

I know that Léonie Alma Mason, Melany Martinez Thomas, Mia and Marko Jug Dujaković,  Denis Martin,  Thomas Seconde, Tomislav Alujevic, Zoran Pejović, and Maud Truchi have done something worth writing.

I hope that I wrote something worth reading.
