Legends are engaging, sometimes mystical, but most often, they are metaphorical and instructive.

The legend of Lika

There were two sisters, two princesses, to whom the land belonged, which today is called LIKA and KRBAVA.

They inherited the land after their father’s death. One sister got Krbava, and the area was named after her.

The other sister was given a land now called Lika.

The princess was in poor health.
She traveled, continually looking for a cure for her illnesses.

As she was thirsty, in Ribnik, she drank water from the river right there. He soon saw that the water was making her feel a little better.
That water did her good as if it were ‘LIČI’ (heals) as if it were ‘LlK, (medicine). She decides to call this water LIKA, and the whole area was named LIKA after her.

Nowadays, at the time of the COVID-19 pandemic, LIKA is genuinely a place that can provide everyone with privacy and peace.

Many looking for it today find it in untouched nature, where the silence is disturbed by the chirping of chicks and numerous watercourses, rivers, streams, waterfalls.

Lika is the perfection of green tones that get a white cloak in winter.

Lika has given the greatest mind to modern history and knowledge, Nikola Tesla.
